Hi, I’m Angelika!

Learning foreign languages?

Beautiful.  Powerful.  Impactful.

Although I come from a multi-cultural family, I was raised in one native language only. So, acquiring any other language than (in my case) father (!) tongue, was a conscious process. I enjoyed every language journey I have been on so far; they were insightful, enriching...

… and also full of questions.

Every language learner knows at least some of these:

  • What is the best method to learn a foreign language?

  • Help! I feel overwhelmed regarding the material and tools out there.

  • How can I successfully fit language learning into an already full and busy life?

  • Is there a good approach that can sustain my learning over longer periods?

  • How can I keep (or rekindle) my motivation?

  • What should it feel like to learn a new language?

  • What actually is a language - and how can I focus on every aspect that is crucial for the goals I have?

  • How can I enjoy the learning journey and steadily grow in it?

Add some language learning myths and unhelpful ways of thinking to the mix, and soon foreign language learning can feel more like drudgery than passionate endeavor. I have plenty of experiences in that regard.

But my studies in linguistics and language pedagogy, as well as my language teaching experience allowed my to gain and connect interdisciplinary insights that shed light and offer solutions to foundational questions and problems regarding language learning.

Underlying issues that have not much to do with the specific language itself are for example:

- problems with one's motivation, discipline, approach, and/or overall mindset regarding language learning

- lack of or confusion regarding grammatical words and concepts

- need for some professional guidance and accountability

- clarity regarding goals, process, and advancing content

My online-courses and coaching services offer insights and change for self-taught language-learners as well as learners in institutional contexts (language courses, immersion programs, etc.).

Everybody can succeed in their language journey!
